Derek Rieck

Derek Rieck is a Senior Incident Responder at Cybereason, based in Newtown Square, PA. Derek has over 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, with more than 18 years investigating cybercrime. Throughout his career, Derek has worked hundreds of cyber investigations, including some of the most complex incidents. 

Prior to joining Cybereason, Derek was an Associate Managing Director at Kroll, a financial and risk advisory firm, as part of their Cyber and Data Resilience team where he focused on digital forensics and incident response. Derek was responsible for leading incident response teams who supported clients during many cyber engagements, including forensic investigations, ransomware, insider threat, and other cyber intrusions. 

Before this, Derek was a Special Agent in the FBI from 2006-2019, where ran investigations relating to cybercrime, involving both domestic and international threat actors. During his time in the FBI, Derek worked extensively with local, state, federal and international law enforcement partners, and investigated both healthcare fraud and white collar crime. He also served as a member of the FBI’s evidence response team for 10 years.

Derek received his Bachelors of Science from Penn State University in Business, with Information Systems Technology option. He holds many certifications including GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE), A+ and Net+, and GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC).
