This week marked a remarkable shift in the history of Cybereason, with three very exciting announcements.
First, we closed a $25 million Series B round of funding backed by Spark Capital, who led the round together with our existing investor CRV and by Lockheed Martin.
Second, we announced that Lockheed Martin — a current Cybereason customer which is deploying the Cybereason platform internally across 120,000 endpoints and servers— will also add the Cybereason Platform to its various cyber security offerings. Coming from the developers of the Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill chain, there is no better validation to the strength of the Cybereason solution. It doesn’t happen too often that the team at Lockheed Martin decides to deploy, invest, and resell an externally developed product, let alone that of an early stage startup company. The Lockheed Team tested and compared Cybereason to various solutions in the market and found it superior .
The words of Rick Mahler, Director of Commercial Cyber Services at Lockheed Martin, were a true testament to the hard work our researchers, developers and Sales offer on a daily basis:
“The Cybereason platform is an outstanding complement to the tradecraft and technologies Lockheed Martin uses every day to defend our network and our clients. Its real-time detection and attack tracing capabilities enable us to effectively leverage threat intelligence and provide our government and commercial customers with a calculated, strategic approach to cyber defense. That’s why in addition to deploying Cybereason’s platform across more than 120,000 internal endpoints and servers, we also partnered with it and participated in this latest round as a strategic investor.”
Third, I am honored to announce that Santo Politi, Founder and General Partner at Spark Capital, will be joining our board of directors. Santo and the Spark Capital have had phenomenal success growing start-ups into household names, and we fully plan to be their next triumph. Santo brings a unique perspective about the consumerization of IT-Security that fits very well to the DNA of Cybereason. In his words:
“If you think “beautiful security product” is an oxymoron, I strongly suggest you get a demo from the Cybereason team. This is a very sophisticated expert system wrapped in a great consumer package. It brings the simplicity of dropbox to an extremely difficult to visualize problem.”
But Overall, I am mostly excited and thankful for the Cybereason team in Tel Aviv and the USA. We started 3 years ago— Yonatan, Yossi and I— with knowledge taken out of military cyber-security and a vision to help companies solve the problem of complex hacking operations. Today, with a diverse team of 40 employees, we have managed to win as customers a few of the largest Fortune 100 companies.
I am excited and looking forward for the upcoming growth and the challenges ahead of us.
